Commercial Activity
Commercial activity is a significant part of the economy in Contra Costa County. A large amount of the commercial activity takes place in central business districts and unincorporated towns.
The vacancy rate for commercial property, and more specifically Industrial, has continued to decline. Antioch and Brentwood vacancy dropped to 12.3% and 6.9% respectively while Concord dropped
to a 3.5% vacancy. According to the NAR Forecast the demand for space will be strong as we move into 2008, which will result in the vacancy rate continuing to decline.

Although the residential real estate market has changed in recent years, the commercial real estate market does not follow true to the same order. The two markets have not been impacted by the
same changes. For instance, Commercial real estate did not get equally affected by the overbuilding of structures. According to the NAR Forecast the pricing for some commercial real estate has
been at record levels.
